Kalari presence at Big Rig Expo

On Saturday 6 September the inaugural Roadwise Big Rig Expo at Port Hedland was kicked off. The event is a road safety awareness event for the whole family bought about by Port Hedland industry and community partners.

Our Port Hedland team was proud to be well-represented, with the Steering Committee attending, a quad road train on display and the Kalari simulator available for practical demonstrations, which proved to be a highlight for both kids and adults.

The day was dedicated to sharing the road safety message. Our team particularly focused on making the attendees aware of just how big road trains are on the road and consequently explaining some of the difficulties drivers experience in traffic.

The day included a number of demonstrations by emergency services including a car wreck rescue and helicopter evacuation. There was also some light entertainment for the kids such as face painting and a jumping castle.

The Expo raised in excess of $15,000 for the local St John’s volunteers with the majority of funds going towards training and training equipment that will benefit the entire community.

We have committed to an even bigger and more successful community day next year.
